Little B has arrived!

Our newest B has already kept us busy to where updating our family and friends with pictures and stories has been slim to none (none on here ;)) Momma B promises to try and do better from here on.

Little B arrived on December 23, 2009 at 7:46 am. Only one day after his EDD! Of course, he did have a little prodding by Momma B...Momma B and Daddy B went to the doctor on the 22nd at 3:15 pm for our weekly appointment. Mommy told Daddy that she was afraid Little B wasn't going to cooperate for the heartbeat again because he was doing flips and squirming the entire time before the doctor came in. Sure enough, he gave her more than a few minutes of problems but we finally got him! Dr. V decided to put Momma B on the monitor to see what contractions were there and said that if they were semi-regular we could do induction but if not, we would have to wait it out until next week (or until Little B decided to show up). Momma B was almost reduced to tears because she just knew Little B wasn't going to cooperate. THANKFULLY, he proved Momma B wrong and cooperated and we were told "Guess what you're getting for Christmas?" I don't think at that point there were any words that could have made Momma B happier. We headed home to grab a few clothes for Daddy B and were off to the hospital by 4:30. Momma B called both sets of grandparents, Little B's big sister's family, and her friend Momma K on the way to the hospital.

When we first arrived, we checked in and were sent to our room to get ready. Our first nurse, Rachel, started the Pitocin around 6 pm and Dr. V. came by to check on us. Our next nurse, Lana, arrived at 7:30 pm. Both nurses felt bad because they were asking about Momma B's prior pregnancy and asked the typical question she got all throughout pregnancy about her 6 year old at home. Of course, Momma B told them that she wasn't at home she was placed in an open adoption which made them frantically apologize. Momma B has certainly educated more than a few people along the way even with little details about the adoption. Nurse Lana broke Momma B's water at 1:15 am in hope to get things moving along faster. Up to that point, both Rachel and Lana had been pleased with Momma B's acceptance of the Pitocin and progress while on it. Once Momma B's water broke, things really started picking up in the contraction department and Momma B had to remind herself to sstay focused. There were many times that Momma B felt she couldn't go any longer (especially without pain medication!), but with determination and Daddy B's support she made it through! Momma B's friend - Momma K - was there during most of the labor and deliver and it was so helpful especially towards the end because Momma B didn't want Daddy B leaving her side so Momma K was able to help out and get the things that Momma B was needing while Daddy B continued to be supportive. Momma B is so thankful to Momma K for her love and support during a LONG labor in the middle of the night. Momma B is also thankful that Daddy B and Momma K put up with the extremely cold room temperature that Momma B wanted. In pictures, it looks like Daddy B arrived just in time for the delivery because he had his leather coat on. Oh the stories Momma B could tell Little B...:)

Little B definitely didn't make it easy on Momma B. Par for the course, he was stubborn and didn't want to arrive quick until it was time to push. Momma B had just been checked and was still at a 9 (it seemed to take forever to go from 7-9) but as the nurses and doctor went to leave the room, Momma B felt intense burning and contractions and knew it was time for Little B to arrive. All she could manage for a while was a hand held up to the doctor to signal for her to wait and finally she got out "Push. Burns." After a quick check, it was determined it was time for Momma B to push. Momma B told the doctor that she didn't think she could do it (Momma B was so exhausted and scared), but Little B didn't play around at this point and in under five minutes and six pushes later, made his arrival!

When they placed Little B on Momma B's tummy, all the long hours of labor didn't matter anymore. Momma B was so overjoyed and filled with love staring into Little B's eyes. Daddy B's eyes were brimming with tears to where he didn't want to cut the cord for fear he couldn't see it. Looking from Little B to Daddy B, Momma B fell more in love with Daddy B for all that he is to her and our family. Little B finally arrived and Momma B wanted nothing more than to hold him and stare at him. He was so perfect!

The Little B family had Momma B's friends and co-workers visit at the hospital the day Little B was born. Little B's big sister, E, had Momma S calling first thing. Momma S said she wasn't sure that Big E had slept because she was up at 7 am their time asking if Little B had arrived. Big E has been so excited and keeps asking Momma B for pictures. The next day was quiet in terms of visitors as it was Christmas Eve. On Christmas Day, Momma B and Daddy B were anxious to get home but had to wait until 3 pm due to the doctor on-call being with his family. In the end, it didn't matter. Momma B was so proud holding Little B in his car seat as they were wheeled downstairs to meet Daddy B who had went to get the car. Momma B and Daddy B enjoyed their first Christmas as the Little B family at home with their newborn son. There was no Christmas present exchanging that day, nor was it needed. The Little B family had never felt more complete.
