One month ago (okay, a month and a day ago), my baby boy made his entrance into this world. It's hard to believe that a month's time has passed. Typically, I'm a person that feels that time flies by and due to that, events feel like they were a while back as well. However, in this case, it feels like giving birth to Little B was only a few yesterdays ago.
To celebrate his one month birthday, Daddy B had the idea of surprising Momma B and Little B with cupcakes (sadly, Momma B was on her way to a friend's baby shower and forgot to take pictures). To spoil Momma B, Daddy B got Colts cupcakes. I love my husband! For those of you that aren't aware, Daddy B is a hardcore Titans fan so for him to do that for me, he probably had to take a deep breath and sigh before he could pick them up. Thanks hon! Daddy B called me into the kitchen where he had one little cupcake with a candle in front of it to blow out. He had asked if we had candles and I thought he meant stick candles so I said no. Apparently, he meant birthday candles. Ooopps! We had them but this candle was just as cute. We stood there in the kitchen and sung Happy Birthday to Little B (who of course, didn't care at all about the festivities going on around him!). To top it all off, Daddy B bought Momma B a beautiful bouquet of flowers which he had placed in a vase for Momma B to enjoy. It was a wonderful way to celebrate Little B's birthday and bring extra joy to the day.
Of course, our little man wasn't going to be outdone by Daddy B's extravagence so he made sure to top it before the day was over! Daddy B was holding Little B and talking to him with Momma B sitting next to them. We are used to all of Little B's animal noises and grunts when he talks to us, but yesterday he moved on. He cooed for the very first time! Then, when Daddy B asked him to do it again, he did! Daddy B got misty eyed and Momma B couldn't stop grinning from ear to ear. It was the perfect end to a wonderful day! (Side note: he also was cooing during story time this morning! Momma B hasn't got him to coo when she's talking yet and is jealous of Daddy B because of this. But, Momma B did get the first non-sleepy smile when he was talking so that's a consolation. Truly, we are loving every moment of seeing him interact in new ways).
It's been a week of firsts. It was the first time Little B cooed. It was the first time Little B wore cloth diapers. Momma B and Little B took their first shopping trip/running errands by themselves (picked up Little B's birth certificate/post office/Target/Kohls). Little B outgrew two of his newborn outfits and wore 0-3 month clothing for the first time. Today, Momma B attempted to take little B for his first walk. He wasn't having any part of this though and screamed the whole time so Momma B turned around. It's been one of our more eventful weeks with Little B and we've enjoyed the special moments we have with him. We look forward to month two!
I can't believe how fast the month has flown by, what a great day to celebrate his time in the real world :-) Cherish every moment as I know you are. I can't even remember moments like this with Savannah how and I'm glad you are writing them down for Landon and you later on! Love you guys :-)
ReplyDeleteI thought you wrote back when she was born as well? It has been a wonderful month. I just wish it would all slow down!
