Not Heartless

Momma B figures she may need a clarification post due to numerous comments in the last week about inducing. It's not just for convienence or discomfort purposes that Momma B wants to be induced. It also is attributed to the fact that on December 11, Little B weighed in at 8 lbs. 4 ounces (plus or minus 8 ounces). Considering that each week that passes, babies gain approximately a half pound, even if he was only in the 7s range a week and a half ago, he's surpassed that by now. Momma B isn't keen on the idea of waiting until after Christmas because he could be a 9.5-10 lber by then. Momma B had problems with Little B's sister's delivery and she was only 7.4. So, to avoid a c-section if possible, Little B will be induced. Also, there's the fact that my placenta was noted as calcified 7 weeks ago due to the second hand smoke I receive from being in client's homes. Having a calcified placenta is reducing the nutrients that I'm able to pass on to Little B.

Momma B realizes that everyone has their own thoughts on induction, but Momma B and Daddy B have weighed out their options and feel that this is a good option for Little B and for them. Hopefully we will have an update on Little B's arrival soon!

  2. U/S are notoriously inaccurate when it comes to guessing weight (and that is what it is...a guess) and are generally up to 2 lbs off. Also laying on your back is the WORST position a women can push in and why most women have trouble getting out little babies. If they would just get up and into a good position they would have 30% MORE room in their pelvis for baby to get through. True CPD is VERY VERY rare and often just a positional problem. Also if they are not taking into account your bishop's score your risk of c-section goes up 75% if your bishops do not indicate that your body is ready. All in all i dont agree with induction and thankfully will be working only with homebirthers so i wont have to deal with it. But goodluck anyways.

  3. I don't know who people are telling you what to do with your baby and your body, but I am glad you did what you had to to get Baby B here safe and sound! You are my friend and I support you in whatever you do :)
