Yes, We are Around

Anyone home? Why yes, we are! We've just been so busy enjoying our Little B family that we've not taken much time for the online world of extended family and friends. Please excuse our neglect with the following post to help catch you up!

After enjoying our pumpkin patch outing (which I still think of often and look forward to next year's!), we headed to Evansville for some time with our family and friends. Little B  had his very first sleepover with Nana and Granddaddy due to Momma B and Daddy B going to a wedding. It was a very nice break for the Parental B's and Little B reportedly went to bed like a champ and slept until the next morning when he woke up and went back to bed and cuddled with Nana. Somewhere along the trip, he caught a bug because unfortunately, he was a very miserable boy by mid-afternoon the day he was returned. Whiny, clingy, feverish, picking at his lunch and dinner, and vomiting multiple times. Not exactly how I'd imagined his return, but Momma B was glad to have him back no matter how unfun it was. Monday afternoon, we headed back to Muncie but stopped off in Indy to get dinner with Nana and her co-worker first. Little B enjoyed his very first 'big people' meal. It was a week of big people meals actually because two days later, he enjoyed chicken nuggets and macaroni and cheese - definitely a new favorite!

Momma B and Momma K took the boys to the park for one of the last nice fall afternoons. They really enjoyed themselves. Little B made it very clear he will be a child with a lot of broken arms and bruises because he is a daredevil. Momma B could not believe how far out of the swing Little B was trying to lean. He had an absolute ball!

Finally, last weekend we went to visit Little B's sister and family. We had a ball. Little B wore a Halloween costume for the very first time and went on his very first hayride (which he seemed to enjoy and towards the end even fell asleep snuggled in on Momma B. Advantage to a little bundle of Little B? He keeps you warm while snuggling :) Unfortunately, Little B had some firsts here as well - falling and injuring himself. He's fallen off the couch before as described in a previous post. That was not the Parental B's fault. Unfortunately, the first time definitely was. The Parental B's were getting ready for church and Momma B was getting ready to go do her hair. Big E and Little B were on the bed together and Momma B took him down. When Momma B went to the bathroom, Big E put Little B back up on the bed to play. Momma B told her to keep a close eye on him because he rolls around a lot and could get off the bed. MISTAKE! Momma B should have just taken him off the bed. Not more than a minute later a huge thud and screaming ensued. Little B was a mess. At first, we thought he'd falled onto the back of his head. But, as the coloring peaked, we discovered he'd landed on his nose. Honestly, minus one small bruise on the side of his head, the only part that took a hit was his nose it appears. He was in hysterics for quite a while. To top it off, later that day, he was sitting next to Momma B on the couch and dove off the couch so quick he couldn't be grabbed. This time, he bonked the back of his head. We decided at least he sloshed his brain back into place. Poor kid. The nose definitely looked the worst on our way home but we didn't get any pictures of it. On a happier note, Big E was such a good big sister and enjoyed playing and entertaining him all weekend. She enjoyed having Momma B come to school for lunch on Monday, but was disappointed that Little B was taking a nap and she hadn't got to tell Daddy B goodbye that morning because he was still sleeping when she left. She tried to convince Momma B that we always stay for 5-6 days and couldn't leave. Also, I'm so proud of her. While at school, everyone kept asking if I was her mom and she didn't miss a beat by telling them I was her birthmom and she had two moms and two dads. One little girl responded by saying she did too and talked about how her dad had married her stepmom. Brave little girl - I hope that other people's responses continue like that throughout her childhood and into adulthood.

Unfortunately, the Parental B's forgot the SD card so there aren't impromptu pictures of the kiddos. However, we got lots of professional pictures done by Momma S. Momma S will have to excuse me as I have not used Photoshop on any of these pictures yet but had to include some favorites anyways! Here are his "nine" (okay, so he was ten months and a day) pictures!

One of my new favorite Big E pictures

Little B pulling Big E's hair. The progression of these pictures is sadly hilarious. Her pain got more obvious and his joy in giving it only increased.

One of my absolute favorites!

Milestones along the way: Grandpa taught him to wave bye bye (though being typical Little B, he is very stubborn and chooses not to do so a lot of the time!). He gave kisses to Mommy multiple times on the same day (10/27). And the biggest accomplishment of all this month? Drumroll please...

Despite Momma B thinking he was going to be the four year old at preschool still drinking from a bottle, life has changed! See, we own every sippy cup imaginable because Little B has never taken to any of them. We've tried with juice, water, formula. We've tried hard spouts, soft spouts, nipple spouts and straw spouts. At last, a new sippy came out at Target that is a smaller version of the straw cups. This past Wednesday, Daddy B was at work and Momma B decided to make spaghetti for dinner. Momma B gave Little B a toy to hold his interest. No go. Momma B turned on cartoons. No go. So, out came the new sippy. Momma B figured that Little B would shake it and chew on it per usual. But, when Momma B came around the corner she found Little B sucking the watery juice down. It was a very proud day for Momma B since that was the same day the kisses came.

Little B is definitely growing up and is no longer a baby.
