Back all the way to May, Momma B celebrated her 25th birthday in Indianapolis by shopping with Daddy B and then dining at Old Spaghetti Factory with Little B and our friends the K Family and P Family (minus Daddy P). It was a wonderful evening out which ended by taking a walk on the circle and then heading home. However, the trip that usually takes less than an hour took two because we had to stop for Little B to eat and he piddled for an hour.
For Mother's Day, Momma B and Little B went to Evansville and spent time with all the grandparents. Little B was so good on our trip down there. Little B got to meet more of his extended family - Uncle R, Aunt B, and Cousin K. Cousin K played with him quite a bit trying to get him to giggle. Everyone kept threatening her of the pending throwup that could occur - she got lucky! While there, Little B had his very first solid food - bananas! He loved them and has continued to love all foods with sweet potatoes and apples being among the favorites. The only ones we've even got a little dislike expressed for has been green beans (they taste so fresh!) and rice cereal made with formula. I definitely don't have a picky eater. Thankfully, he took after his daddy in that department!
After months of hard work, demonstrations, and tons of video taping, Little B finally rolled over on May 21 - for UNCLE K! Despite Momma B trying to get him to do it over lunch and after work, he refused to do so until Momma B started ignoring him to watch Grey's Anatomy that evening. Luckily, Momma B had looked down at just the right time to see it! Over Memorial Day weekend, while we were visiting Ana and Baba in Nashville, Little B rolled front to back! Unfortunately, no video exists of his early rolls because the video camera was full while we awaited the new computer arrival. But, let's just say once he mastered it, he didn't allow any room for questioning his rolling capabilities. He is now all over the place and does triple rolls all the time. We can't leave the room for even a minute and expect him to be in the same place. Babyproofing came upon us much before Momma B expected!
As for the visit with our Tennessee family, we loved every minute of it! Little B was the center of attention - which he loved - and we got in lots of good visiting time with Ana, Baba, the A family, Aunt Sue, and even Uncle Lew who got to meet Little B for the first time! Other first time introductions for Little B were to our dear friends, the O Family. We couldn't have been more happy to spend a day with them and were only sad our time together was so short. Hopefully when Momma O's little one arrives (November!), I'll be able to visit soon after! Little O will be such a great big sister - she was so adorable with Little B!
In June, we celebrated Daddy B's birthday with dinner with our friends. Not quite the huge production of Momma B's, but nice nonetheless! For Father's Day, we headed home to Evansville again and celebrated with the grandparents. Four days before Father's Day, Little B said "dada" for the first time - and hasn't stopped since! He's talking in full sentences in Little B language, but refuses to add mama to his actual vocabulary. Maybe one day...
While in Evansville spending time with family, he had yet another first - using a sippy! I think his Grammy is having some sort of effect on Momma B! He hasn't quite got the hang of that one yet. Momma B is going to look into a soft nipple versus the hard one since that's what he's used to. We'll see if that makes a difference!
Thankfully, one of the best changes over the last couple months has been Little B sleeping through the night starting at month five. Prior to that, we could count on one hand the number of nights he slept more than five hours in a row. Thankfully, we seem to have passed that phase though our child is still four to six hours under the daily average a child should sleep. As for naps, they are typically thirty to forty minutes two times a day (three if we're lucky!). We were hoping for a while that the hour and a half to two hour nap would stick, but no such luck.
And last but not least on our list of holidays: Fourth of July...Little B didn't let fireworks affect him hardly at all. He didn't see any of them as he was fast asleep in his buddy, Little K's crib on the 3rd when we watched them. On the fourth, he only started to cry once and immediately went back to sleep when we came in. A peaceful fourth for him! Daddy B and Momma B sat out on the porch on the 4th watching some of the fireworks around Muncie that could be seen above the trees. Peace was nice...
Humorous (though sometimes not initially) events over the last couple of months: puking all over Daddy B's face when Daddy B soared him through the air; Momma K turning around for a second and Little B rolling off the couch and him just looking up like "hey, what happened?"; Little B throwing himself head first into his hamper off his changing table by doing three quick scoots while Daddy B turned around to put his diaper in the wet bag. Notice none of these accidents were Momma B's fault? Little B, I want you to remember that if you have any brain injuries later in life ;) Of course, now it'll be my turn for him to get hurt just because I said that! And humorous if you know me...I allowed Little B to watch the end of Wonder Pets and the beginning of Dora tonight because I needed a few minutes of me time. Now, before all the grandparents and the K's lay into me to make fun of my adamant stance against him not watching tv, it isn't something that will become even a semi-frequent occurrence! Daddy B is still expected to not have the tv on for the boys during the day because Little B always finds it. But, to allow myself that little bit of down time (30 minutes), Momma B broke down today. And it didn't kill Little B. In fact, he only watched parts because he was too busy rolling around the living room playing with his ball. But, don't any of you naysayers get the idea it's okay to let him watch tv! I've not broke down near that far yet! :)
We are loving our time with Little B and can't believe how quickly the last six and a half months has flown by! He's becoming quite the little man and I love it - even though I do miss the newborn stage at times. He's such a wonderful blessing and such a joyful child!
And because two months is a lot of pictures to miss...

I didn't know he wasn't in day care any more! That's great, definitely having Aaron all the time is the next best thing :-) Glad it worked out.
ReplyDeleteAlso, it was around this age that I started letting Savannah watch Baby Einstein videos that are 30 minutes. I know there is controversy to TV at all before 2 and the whole Baby "Einstein" idea but for when you DO need a few minutes to yourself, she loved it and learned so much. Particularly the baby sign language one was incredibly helpful at this age to help Savannah communicate what she wanted. And, it's something you two can work on together even when if you only watch the video once in awhile. Just my suggestion :-)
Thanks for keeping us all up to date on Little B's activities.
ReplyDeleteLeah - Yup, we are loving him being at home! We'll see. I'm still not into the tv idea but at over six months of age and on a very fussy day I just need a few minutes. :)
ReplyDeleteAna - You're welcome! I enjoy blogging!
