So busy!

As you can see from the lack of posting in the last month and a half, Momma B's returning to work has only made our lives more hectic! Not to mention all the traveling we've done! Forewarning: VERY picture heavy!

Little B has started daycare which seems to be going really well. I'm not going to lie, Momma B definitely feels that there could be a more ideal situation that would allow for Little B to have one-on-one and the space to be able to learn to roll over and just hang out doing tummy time (a bit of a safety hazard with one to three year olds running around). But, overall it's going well and Little B definitely shares his smiles with the sitter and his newfound friends. When we get there in the mornings, there is only one other little girl there and she is always happy to see him and asks about his diaper being clean. At the end of the day, all the kids enjoy helping Momma B get Little B into his carrier and buckled in. He's definitely got his fair share of girls fawning over him.

Momma B enjoys working a 5 day work week with shorter hours. Despite the fact it'd be nice to have a full day off, working two extra hours a day is too much when Little B starts going to bed around 7 or 7:30. Please, let me emphasize STARTS going to bed then. Little B still is a terrible sleeper and it takes hours to get him to sleep and stay asleep. I'm ashamed to admit that just last night, I was so frustrated that I found myself laying him down in his crib just so I could take a break and sat in the living room telling Daddy B " He doesn't sleep! It's been two hours! Why doesn't he sleep? I wish we could get him a 'sleep chip' or something."

Date nights are non-existant. With Daddy B working while looking for a full-time job, doing a side project for a professor at Ball State and both of us trying to spend our time with Little B and occassionally picking up the house, we don't have any free time. Something has got to give because it's definitely wearing thin. The B's are very much in love but having a high needs child that wants a lot of interaction combined with little sleep for everyone definitely wears after a while. Momma B and Daddy B are looking forward to the project being completed so that there's one less thing on our plates. And of course, finding a full-time job so that the search can end and Daddy B can begin doing what he most enjoys would be wonderful!

Little B enjoys 'singing' along when Momma B is singing or during church. Despite still wanting to be held a lot and interacted with more than other babies his age, he has become a little more content laying on his blanket playing with his new favorite toy - his stuffed giraffe. We're hoping this is the start of him becoming a little more independent to where we can get more things done.

Little B's still growing like a weed! At his doctor's appointment last week, he weighed 15 lbs. putting him at the 50% but was 26.5 inches long putting him at the 90% for length. In fact, today we had to change our plans for his outfit because his OshKosh overalls are too short now (3-6 months). I guess we can safely say he's taking after Daddy B at this point - tall and skinny! He's definitely thinned out in the last three weeks which I think has helped him start being able to push himself and have more upper body strength. He's even closer to rolling over but still hasn't actually went ahead and done it. Little B didn't get his shots at his four month appointment because he has caught a really bad cough and congestion to go with it from the other kiddos at daycare. Poor little guy is waking himself up with the hacking cough he's got. It's so bad his cry doesn't even sound like him a lot of the time. We're all hoping he gets over it soon!

Other new milestones...One the 26th, Little B had his first series of belly laughs! He's been giggling for a while but these were full belly laughs. He's so cute when he does it! he's talking up a storm. Momma B and Daddy B know it's not possible, but there's been more than a few times that it's sounded like he's repeated "hi." We look forward to hearing what he has to say but wish he'd slow down so we could enjoy our baby a bit more. He's definitely showing all the signs of being ready for solid foods but we've chose to wait because everything suggests that right now, breastmilk contains all the nutrition he really needs. Also, his doctor advised we wait because as dry as skin is, it looks like hs might have allergies versus just dry skin issues so we are getting referred to an allergist. It sounds like there's a waiting list so until then, he's got a cream and an antibiotic to help clear his skin up as much as possible. She suggested that even though he doesn't cry from discomfort, he might not be sleeping well due to itching. We're still dealing with him scratching his head and face so we have given up and put mittens or socks on him all day. Unfortunately, in just the last week, he's learned to use his fingers and pull them off. He's also come to prefer his thumb to his binky. He enjoys putting everything into his mouth. Looks like we've got a bad habit to break. Even in the womb, he always had his hands around his face. We may have a touchy-feely kid on our hands!

Momma B, Momma K, Little B and Little K traveled to Pendleton to see Momma P and Little P to get to love on him and have all the boys together. Momma B, Momma K, and Momma P shared their pregnancies together. Little P is stubborn just like Little B and decided to test his momma by coming 11 weeks early. Even though Momma B and Momma K had been able to visit once he was released mid-March, They hadn't had the opportunity to get to hold him yet. It was a wonderful visit...and of course, pictures ensued!

Little K and Little B - a very humorous picture of both of them!

He met a lot of the B's church family from their time at Saint Paul's. Momma B allowed him to enjoy sucking on his very first chocolate Easter bunny rather than just devouring it on her own. He didn't even seem to notice. He's definitely at the stage he prefers the noise of the wrapping compared to any present contained in the box or bag. We took our very first Easter pictures at Grandpa and Grammy's while trying to stay out of the way of the bees swarming the trees. Little B didn't even notice but talk about a nervous Mommy! The picture of just Little B and Momma B left a little to be desired but the bees threat won over getting a good picture.

Little B's baptism followed a couple of weeks later. As of April 25, 2010, Little B joined God's family. He was very alert during the ceremony and didn't cry one bit. His little sailor outfit was adorable and Momma B was very pleased with the quality of the material. Maybe one day he will have a little brother, cousin, or further down the road, a son that can enjoy wearing the outfit just like he did. Little B was blessed to have a lot of family and friends attend his baptism. Most of all, he was blessed to have some of his godparents - Momma S and the K's - come into town to join him for his special day. Daddy S was unable to come due to church, but Big E was able to come down and seemed to enjoy every minute with her little brother. It was so much fun watching the two of them interact. Little B is so blessed for that very special relationship and the love of all the family that surrounds him. Family and friends have only become more precious since the birth of Little B.

  1. They grow so fast, don't they? I blinked and Ariana turned into a teenager. At least she thinks so.
Very cute pictures, especially the chocolate bunny one. He knows a good thing when he sees it!

  2. Such cute pictures! He is definitely growing like a weed - they grow out of those clothes so fast! Kate had some I missed out on & she never even got to wear them. Hang in there with the sleeping thing. I know it is not easy & if you are like me, it makes you a cranky mommy, but Kate really has turned into a great sleeper now. It took almost 18 months, but eventually.... Not quite ready to start that part allover again! Hopefully Baby Roo will be a better sleeper than these guys! Love your updates! Sorry we missed the baptism, but glad to hear he was so good!

  3. Denise - it's so sad. I can't believe how big your kids are now! And yes, my kid did seem excited with it...it was the taste that apparently didn't go very far with him. No reaction. Lame ;)

Chesney - yes they do! 3 months isn't long enough for clothes! And yes, sadly I do become a very cranky mommy. I'm hoping he'll catch on with sleep eventually...hopefully all future children for us will be content "normal", sleeping babies! I totally understand you missing it and hope you all had a blast!
