A week ago, we had a lovely surprise in our bank account. Instead of Daddy B's new freelance job (congrats Daddy B!) depositing half the funds, they accidentally gave him the full amount in the first round. Being the honest man he is, he told them but they said not to worry about it, to keep it. Such a wonderful surprise to wake up to and see in your bank account! But the best part is, Daddy B loves this job. And rumor has it the app (yes, he's developing for the iTunes store) will be free so I can download it and play it when he's done! I am very proud and hope that he continues to have jobs like this come his way. He does such awesome work and puts his full heart into it.
To top off an awesome day, it was date night for us. And instead of picking Little B up at 8, it turned into an overnight for him and a free night for us. Considering all the errands we had to run, that worked out well. Daddy B - with some encouragement from his mom - decided that since he has the iPad and doesn't go out on the road like I do, he would wait for the iPhone 5 and take my 4 that I got in January and I could have the 4S so that I could have the voice feature. Safe texting and a safe way to make reminders for myself. Win, win. It was a pretty awesome gesture! Our kidless evening was the beginning of feeling a little more relaxed and less stressed about all the things left undone. And to follow that up, two days later, Daddy B watched Little B most of the day so that I could catch up with work. Then, he continued to watch him that evening so that I could go enjoy some girl time with my best friend and old co-workers. I really do believe that spending time one-on-one with my husband at least a couple times per month and my girlfriends at least once per month makes me a happier, more relaxed woman. Thanks to Daddy B for doing that for me!
After some relaxation, I was ready to think about Little B's Christmas and Birthday list. I love finding new gifts that I think will excite him. This year, it's the kitchen set. Ok, and if I'm being honest, Momma B thinks it will be pretty fun too. But, as much as this little boy loves to help his momma in the kitchen, he should have one of his very own! We bought his new bedding and hope to buy his bed and repaint his room shortly so that not only will he officially have a big boy room, but he will also hopefully sleep better on a twin mattress versus the plastic crib mattress.
I took both boys to the grocery store the other day because I needed to get some diapers. I figured it'd be chaos before we even got to the diaper aisle. Boy, was I wrong! They were great the whole trip! I only wish I would have still had my sling in the car so that I could have carried Little K instead of surround him with items (though I'm pretty sure he much preferred it that way as much as he was banging Kleenex boxes together and smiling at everyone as we passed). Little B entertained himself by waving to everyone and saying hi as we passed. Note to all shoppers: if you ignore my cute kid, he will continue to say hi louder until you pay attention! He's done this the last couple months and it's hilarious (though somewhat embarrassing at times!)
Little B went to daycare for the first time yesterday. It went fairly well. He was very clingy and didn't want me to move away from him. When we made the long walk across the gym to leave, he whimpered. Unfortunately, Daddy B had to run back because we still had his Nuk and there's now way it would've went well without that. So, then he was crying when we left. Daddy B had a harder time leaving him than I did and said we should go back and get him. We remained strong and didn't call once during the four hours he was there. When I went to pick him up, Daddy B was disappointed he couldn't go but he had feeding responsibilities for Little K. When I got there, I noticed they'd had a welcome sign for him that we hadn't seen before (and when I went to drop off the check today, it was in his cubbie!). He was playing in his room with a couple toys quietly while his teacher was rubbing two kids backs to get them to sleep. He half smiled when he first saw me, then glared slightly and then ran to me. They said that he had cried off and on but kept playing so overall not too bad! He continuously asked about Dada the whole way home. But, then he just wanted to run around when he got there so it was a little bit of a let down for dada.
Today, I received some generosity from Nuk's customer service. I had emailed customer service last week asking if there was a way to order just lids since ours mysteriously disappear like pacifiers. They said they don't sell them but they would be willing to send me some this time free of charge. I opened the mail to a nice package with four lids in it. Considering the bowls also are abducted, this should make even matches. They could have said "No, we don't sell them separately. We apologize but hope you'll continue to purchase our products." Instead, they have pleased a customer by being generous and taking the time to help make some sets again so that all those little snacks can be kept fresh. They have definitely earned this family's business again!
On a bit of a negative note, Little B woke up very congested all of a sudden this morning. He had no symptoms minus four coughs over the last two days. Apparently, Little K was the same way. So, we still had them together today because what did we have to lose? Nothing because once they each went to their respective doctors this afternoon, they both have croup. Little B's is spasmodic croup which means he's more susceptible to get it again and again. This pour little boy has a compromised respiratory system! It's the only sickness that he ever seems to get. So, he won't get to go to daycare tomorrow and we've all had to adjust our schedule for the boys next week as Little B was going to be attending daycare everyday except Tuesday due to a hectic schedule. But, as long as he's better by Wednesday so that he can go Thursday to daycare, we will be fine. Pour little guy sounds awful and I wish he didn't sound like a freight train as he sleeps. No, that's not a mommy exaggerating. His snoring is absolutely awful. When he's been waking, he's so hoarse you don't hear him cry out, you only hear the subsequent coughing. Having a sick little boy breaks a parent's heart and so we will be extra loving this weekend and take care of our little man. Because being sick is no fun for anyone.
