Celebrations, Hard work, and Relaxation

Our little family has definitely had a lot going on. Tons of pictures have been taken to document the big events and the everyday ones. Which is a good thing because it's often much needed when I got a month without blogging. At the end of May, we enjoyed the last of an every two week galavant to our hometown that had spanned three months. Not to mention a trip to the S family's in there as well! So, we spent our last trip for a while celebrating M's graduation and enjoying our first night out without Landy in a while. This doesn't include our bi-weekly date nights because this was a stretch of 6 hours without him! Honestly, except for during the day with work, I've not been away from him like that since he and his daddy were enjoying a visit down there by themselves in March. Him and Uncle Z did great though and according to Uncle Z, Little B was no trouble and went to sleep easy for him. Which was wonderful since we decided to continue celebrating graduation with M and her family at one of my favorite restaurants - Olive Garden! We are very proud of M! During the graduation, I got all teary eyed listening to the speeches of the world and changes to be made. I remember the high school days and younger with the feelings of making the world a better place. I sat there thinking about how youth truly do make our world a better place because without the hope that they give and share with our world, our society would not continue positive progression at the speeds that it does. Youth have so much more power than they think they do. And then, I really teared up at the thought of Big E and Little B being on that platform one day graduating with their class and moving on into the world/leaving home/spreading their wings.

While there, we of course enjoyed visits with the grandparents and great-grandparents. Little B is definitely the joy of the visit and we aren't even needed for interaction as he runs the show. We are simply transportation for the act to get from one place to another. Little B's favorite activity at Mimi and Papaw's is using Papaw's cane. I can't decide if he wants to us it to walk, as a weapon, or as a little dance prop. But, it's picture is definitely going to be in the book of pictures I print and label for Little B. This was a therapy suggestion to help him with labeling (putting family/friends/favorite things into an album). I am behind on that project (among a couple others!) but I will be getting to it yet this week!

Daddy B treated me to a lovely birthday/Mother's Day Dinner at a bistro downtown. It was a very lovely childless evening full of adult conversation, a delicious meal, and wine. Daddy B and I have been in a rough patch lately. Anyone who is close to us knows this. And don't for a minute think that me saying what I'm about to means that the last three weeks have been hunky dorey because there has definitely been some topsy to our turvey. BUT, I truly feel like things may be getting better. Being in the place we are in our lives can be really exciting, really frustrating, really unique, really depressing, and really special all at once and it gives us the same roller coaster feeling that truly is there at times. But, over the last month, we've tried to find some more moments for each other and started going to church again. Both of which I feel have helped. But, finding the time hasn't been easy. And the reason we start to fall again sometimes is because we can't find that time without having family around to help be the impromptu sitters on occasion. This last week, I truly have missed my pre-baby time. The times where Daddy B and I would go out when we wanted to, lounged and did nothing, or ran errands together. I truly love Little B beyond belief but I love my husband as well and without having family around, it can be tough to have those moments that are often needed. That little break that helps you be a better wife and mother. Now, I only speak for myself so Daddy B could have a completely different outlook on where we are at/our rollercoaster ride. But, let me say this loud and clear: I love Daddy B with all my heart. He's an amazing husband and dad who does our dishes on his own a lot of days, is so patient with Little B and his todderlistic behaviors that emerge more and more every day, and takes on all the projects that I'd like completed - just to name a few! I'm very grateful and plan on spending the rest of my life finding even more little things to love about Daddy B.

Speaking of projects, Daddy B has been digging out and laying our patio for a couple weeks. Unfortunately, lack of materials/rain has delayed the project but we are planning on it being completed in the next week. And then, we will sit out on our new patio and enjoy meals together where - even better! - we can hose Landon down when we are done. And it'll be another great spot for Momma B to work during the day and not be right within the boys' line of sight.

Little B hasn't let the weather stop him from enjoying himself. Rain or shine he's had an absolute ball!

First time in the sprinkler. Little B LOVED it to no end. Stuck his face right in and ran in and out.

Little B helping Momma B water the plants. He loves to "help."

Little B's first time eating on his picnic table.

And of course, Little K and Little B continue to see each other Monday-Thursday. It's become more noticeable though that even though they obviously don't know the day of the week they must know their four day/three day routine well because if they see each other on the three day weekend, there is often scowling going on like they don't want to have to share toys. Haha. It's actually very comical.

I'm pretty sure they were discussing their affection for A and claiming ownership. A just continued doing her own thing and pretended like she wasn't basking in the attention. Moments before, she'd been giddy with them following her all over the yard.

In house news, we got air conditioning! This is the first house I've lived in that I haven't had air conditioning and I don't handle it well. Hot = very uncomfortable and cranky Momma B! Thankfully, after a couple hiccups, the air works great and we can relax comfortably without the freezer door open (just kidding)! Our garden produced it's first crop of spinach/lettuce. The spinach was absolutely delicious. The lettuce was a little tart for my taste. I noticed today that some of the green beans were ready and others were pretty close. Now for my zucchini/summer squash to be ready! I never got the peas/tomatoes planted unfortunately :( But, the yard truly is looking amazing with the patio close to completion, a lovely garden, beautiful plants purchased by us/donated by my momma from her garden, and just general upkeep that the previous tenants didn't seem to have cared about. It really will be enjoyable here in the next few weeks to relax on the patio or in the hammock and just listen to the birds and Little B's laughter.

Little B is still a bundle of energy and keeps us going. Little B has started knowing how to correctly answer questions (shaking his head yes or no) and points to things that he wants. While this is an awesome accomplishment for him, it also is one step closer to independence and even more energy that we don't know what to do with! Today, I decided to burn some of that energy by taking him to the local Children's museum. We now have a membership for ourselves, two additional adults, and kids. I can't wait to take the boys during the day to get out of the house and give them something fun to do. And with a membership, the hour or two trips that will be more their style won't put a hole in our pocket. Not to mention the perk of getting into more than 300 museums free! Of those we might frequent: our hometown, Louisville, Chicago, Charlotte and Nashville to name a few. Only bummer is that our state's two bigger Children's Museums haven't jumped on the bandwagon. If you have a local kid's museum, you really should check it out! Little B's favorite parts of the museum (now mind you, Tot Spot is currently under construction so this could be a big hit too): the stairs/slide, water area, and the train. Little B said choo choo when the train went by for the 100th time. He loved those trains most of all just like his daddy loved trains at that age.

Yes, we went without Daddy B because he deserved some peace and quiet for Father's Day. Hopefully Daddy B enjoyed every minute of his special day from Little B waking him up with a huge smile, to church, to giving horsey rides to a giggling son, to some peace and quiet, to a nice dinner at Ruby Tuesdays with finishing the day off with a cuddle with the little boy who made him Daddy B. We love you babe!

What do I do Mom?!? I threw sand and now it's on my face!
