Highlights of the last 6 weeks

Well, right after our post on Feb. 2nd about Little B doing a great job sleeping, he decided to spite us by being up almost all night. And of course, he only wanted his momma most of the night. Momma B caught some shut eye during the few times Little B would allow Daddy B to rock him. To Little B's credit, I think we may have had some teething issues going on.

Big events in February:  We went to Evansville for a visit. Little B enjoyed going up and down the steps to the basement at Grammy and Grandpa's all weekend. We are pretty sure that's how we maintain somewhat of a figure - chasing Little B everywhere! Little B got to meet Uncle Z's best friend (and ours!), Kayte and spend time with his great grandparents and go to lunch with Uncle E, Macey, and Granddaddy and Nana. Uncle E was silly enough to think that Little B would have chicken left over to share with him. WRONG!!! He greatly underestimated Little B's eating skills - especially for fried chicken! Grammy taught Little B to draw with crayons and markers and had him draw one picture for Momma B and Daddy B and one for Uncle Z. Momma B was so proud that she bought Little B his own crayons, coloring books, and drawing pad soon thereafter; however, she wasn't so proud to buy him markers! Then, Grammy and Grandpa came to visit our family! It was Grammy's first visit to the house. Little B enjoyed showing off in his own digs. Daddy B, Grandpa, and Little B even got to enjoy some time in the snow since Mother Nature saw fit to dump some more on us. As they left, we took Little B on his very first wagon ride outside! Since he got his wagon for his birthday, he'd only been able to ride in it in the house a couple of times. He seems to enjoy being out in his wagon and I expect we will get a lot of use out of in the coming months.

Also, Little K turned one! His first birthday party was a huge success! Unfortunately, Daddy B and I didn't enjoy it quite as much as expected because Little B chose that weekend to get the cold that everyone had been passing around so he was pretty miserable and not wanting to be around a lot of people. But, his highlight of the party was definitely getting there early and getting to play with Little K's new slide. And he remains a fan of it!

Separate from our lives as parents, Daddy B has continued to work hard at pursuing finding a full-time graphic job and has done a fantastic job holding down the fort at home. Momma B even came home to a delicious spaghetti dinner last week! Momma B has had a whirlwind of a month in the work department. Days before Valentine's Day, Momma B and Momma K went out on one of Momma B's assessments and got stuck in a huge ice rut on the side of the street. Apparently, days after a huge ice storm, Muncie had decided to wait out doing any more plowing and salting, so side streets were terrible. 3 people stopped to help Momma K and Momma B attempt to get the car out of the rut. The last person was successful! It was almost an hour long process that wasn't enjoyable at the time but definitely amusing afterwards. Momma K, is reverse different than drive ;)? Then, there was the fact that the very first few days of March, I got absolutely slammed at work not only with tons of assessments but also one of the worst assessments I've had yet. To me, there is a huge difference between the way that people choose to live their lives and the way that they allow their children to be treated. It was one of those straight out of horror stories. As I put on Facebook: If you are going to be with someone and you have kids, chose WISELY! Talk to your kids and have open communication as a family. Be wise to neglect and abuse. This is so very valid for everyone especially in today's society! On a happier note, I GOT A NEW JOB!!! I'm going to be working for Indiana Professional Management Group (IPMG). I'll be making sure clients are receiving all their services, conducting meetings, and of course documenting such! I'm thrilled because not only am I ready for a new opportunity job wise, this job allows me to set my own hours which will allow me more time with my son (and husband!) I'm so excited about not only a job that will have the atmosphere, schedule, and environment that I desire; but it also gives me an abundance of time with my family that previously wasn't there. I start on April 4 and look forward to it! (as a side note disclaimer though, I will miss my co-workers at DCS and will definitely have to pop-in for a visit now and then. You guys have been wonderful to work with for the last four years!)

And that brings us to March...which will be over in another 11 days! It seems like this year is already flying by! This month, Little B has fallen head over heels for "Brown Bear, Brown Bear" and can't seem to get enough! He still loves Llama Llama but Brown Bear is definitely preferred right now. He likes to color but wants to eat the crayons/sometimes we have to remind him that he can't take the crayons from the table. He loves the outdoors and I definitely think he'll be a kid that we have trouble getting to come inside later in life - heck! We already have tantrums sometimes. Since he loves the outdoors so much, my goal over the next month is to get our outdoor projects done: putting a new screen in our front window, putting up our new screen door that's been in the garage all weekend, putting new gravel down for the driveway, taking down the wood steps/deck for the pool that used to be in the backyard, leveling out the backyard due to the old owners having a dog that created tons of holes and a mound in the backyard (anyone that knows someone with a small bulldozer?!), building a patio, building a swing for Little B (anyone want to take on helping my husband?), getting Little B's slide back and buying a playhouse (or fort as our friend states it must be deemed since Little B is a boy), and last but not least! - planting tons of flowers and maybe even some tomatoes and herbs. I love this time of year and can't wait to share it with Little B!

Little B had a sleep study done to rule out sleep apnea and he passed with flying colors. So, it's on the ENT on Tuesday where I would be highly surprised if they don't say his adenoids are enlarged to the point of causing some breathing problems. If that's the case, I'll be requesting they remove those and his tonsils at once so we don't ever have to worry about coming back and doing the tonsils later. Of course, it's a race against time to get the surgery done (if needed!) because I don't have insurance from May 9-July 1 due to having to wait for the new insurance to kick in.

We headed to Tennessee on the 11th to enjoy some time with our Sweedish family. We had a blast and Little B loved being with his second cousin. He loves being with other kids! It was so good to see them, not to mention Ana and Baba who are such a blessing to all of us. I wish we lived closer to all of our family so that we could spend more time together. Upon arriving home, Little B immediately started a HUGE growth spurt with him eating every 30 minutes to an hour. One night, it was so bad he even woke up and wouldn't calm down (blood curdle screams!) without a bottle. Yes, he's still getting a bottle. He's always been such a terrible sleeper that is our one crutch that we can't seem to part with. I reason with myself as a mother that he has the wide mouth bottles for breastfeeding and that there are lots of mothers who breastfeed past one so how much can two bottles a day hurt him. I guess we will see if a huge orthodontist bill comes from this later...Back to the sleeping issue though, the night before his bottle demand, he slept 12.5 hours with only one short "need my nuk" wakeup! In the past month, he's done pretty good with only one wakeup a lot of nights now. That's a huge improvement from up to six wake-ups or more per night! If it continues, we might be brave enough to try to get rid of the bottle.

This last week, we've enjoyed a lot of time outside including with Momma K and Little K and another momma that was pregnant at the same time - Momma P and Little P. We had a blast at the park with our boys and were quite talented with our assembly line to take the boys up the slide steps, push them down the slide and catch them at the bottom. Little B and Little P's favorite thing to do was climb the steps to the slide. Give it a couple months and I'm sure Little K will be right behind them. Little B was already trying to demonstrate how they should climb up the slide. Then, this weekend, Little B and Little K had their very first sleepover since the K's were out of town. The boys had an absolute blast. I enjoyed watching them together because you truly can see they are best friends and love being with one another. Little B got so excited every time he'd hear Little K waking up and jabbering in our room and Little K would just beam when Little B came in the room to greet him. However, as a momma, I can definitely say HUGE kudos to Daddy B who has the boys four days a week together all day by himself. Not only do the boys wear you down physically (and could emotionally though that wasn't a problem this weekend!), but I don't care to ever change that many diapers. I used to work at a daycare, but I've been out of that swing for 6 years and I can say that in changing what seemed like a diaper every hour this weekend, we will at least be waiting to have another child until Little B is potty trained. Not that it's a huge change from where we already were because I am enjoyed this stage of Little B's so much that I can't imagine being pregnant, sick, and physically aching like I was with Little B. And then there's the actual arrival of a baby. I don't want to split my time between my kids right now. I LOVE being able to devote all my time and attention to Little B and don't want to change that anytime soon!

Pics of the last 6 weeks - especially our family visits! - to come. Momma B got a new computer for work and so with switching all her info over to her computer, pictures aren't quite all there yet. So, a picture heavy post will come soon! Hopefully, the pictures will come before this weekend because we've got another family visit coming up! Looking forward to seeing everyone especially Uncle Z because it's been too long! Daddy B and Little B may even stay behind a few days since Daddy B has tickets to the USA vs. Paraguay game with Uncle E two days after we'd be leaving. We'll see what comes together! Either way, we can't wait to see our family!
