Quick Learning

Little B is trying to do all sorts of new tricks again...he really doesn't understand how to SLOW DOWN! He is now brushing his teeth twice a day. Depending on which parent brushes depends on whether Little B gets to do it himself (he prefers Momma B in this department ;))

Exactly a week ago, I was getting him ready for bed by myself since it was Daddy B's night to work. I'd started warming the bottle before I went in to get his pjs on and do that part of his nightly routine. After getting him ready, I put him in his crib and went to get his bottle. When I came back in, this is what I found: Little B had just learned to pull himself up in his crib on his knees mere days before. So, neither of us were expecting a standing position anytime soon. Yet, low and behold, there he was. My understanding is Daddy B walked at eight months and I walked at nine. Here's to hoping that Little B will not follow in his parents footsteps and will SLOW DOWN! But, considering he's been taking steps with us holding him up for a month, I doubt he's going to take long to figure it out on his own. Tonight, he even stood unsupported for the first time! He had been holding onto my legs which were propped on the ottoman and he was in between them. Next thing I knew, he had let go and was just standing in between my legs without holding onto anything. He's advancing so quickly! Today was a fussy day for Little B and so I knew that my plan to go to the gym might not work out well considering that he was also off his nap schedule. Sure enough, about the time I got done exercising and ran some quick errands, he was fussy. The problem was, it was only an hour before it was time to start the bedtime ritual. So, I was trying to entertain him. Part of what I did to do this was to give him a sippy because he thinks he is so cool when he is drinking from it (and he is!) The other part was to have him sit in my lap and give him puffs. The thing was, he was even reaching into the container to get more!

Another first last week...Little B had his first tub bath by himself! With adult supervision of course! He loved it  and enjoyed splashing around and trying to get to the side of the tub and pull up on it. What a fun game for him (even though Momma B was not such a big fan!)

I'm so proud of all that my little man can do, but there are so many times that I wish he'd just slow down so I could enjoy a certain stage with him more. Now that he's able to do more for himself, he's so happy and joyful. I don't think I've ever seen a child that gets as happy and as excited as he does! Of course, by the same nature, he also makes it known when he's unhappy. He's got such an expressive personality and we enjoy watching it grow every day (and sometimes, every minute/second!)
