Ok, I know most mothers will say this but it's true for my child! :) Little B is advanced based on his age. He has been since birth but it's become more apparent this past month. Little B cooed at one month old - that's a two month milestone. And at two months he's going full force with his gurgles and coos (3 month marker). In fact, he laughed yesterday for the first time! He's been holding his head up with fairly good control for a few weeks now and has been lifting it off our chests for a month now (2 month marker). He noticed his hands a week and a half ago and has been sucking on his fist vigorously (a week early!). At two months, he's already hit yet another three month milestone because he definitely recognizes Daddy B ad Momma B's faces, scent and voices. Case in point was last Friday when I was in Indy having lunch with my mom. She had fed Little B and was trying to burp him and he was doing his usual screaming because he doesn't enjoy being told he's done. She finally handed him to me and he nuzzled in, took a deep breath and calmed down. Needless to say, Mommy B throughly enjoyed this!! Actually, he's hit 75% of the three month markers (and half of those he's already been doing for 2-3 weeks) including: tracking moving objects, blowing bubbles and bringing his hands together/batting at toys. And to show how truly advanced Little B is, he is cooing when we talk to him (4 month marker). My son is brilliant!
Ok, enough bragging...Little B has always enjoyed his baths but this love for bathtime has only increased. Two evenings ago, he was splashing really hard and smiling and cooing throughout it. He had a great time...until we took him out of course ;) He doesn't like being told when he's done with something. He must get that from his momma!
Little B went in for his two month appointment and first round of shots on Wednesday. He wasn't as huge as I thought! He was 11 pounds, 15.5 ounces (approx 50% on the growth chart), 23.5 inches (70%) and 16 inch head size (60%). Then there was the shots...they had two nurses so that they could inject two at once so that he only had two separate timings (there were three shots). They asked me to hold his arms down. The second nurse said I could step out but I said I'd suck it up. Poor little guy had no idea what was coming. I got down at his level and was talking and smiling at him and he had the "Everything is right with the world" look on his face. Until they jabbed him. His little face scrunched up so much there was hardly any facial features left. He was as red as a tomato. I teared up right along with him. But, within the hour he was over it and was sleeping like a baby. He took a lot of long naps that day. He acted slightly uncomfortable but not too bad. This morning when I went to do his diaper he acted like his legs were still bothering him. At least we get a two month break!
On a sad note, today marks the end of a dreaded week for me. This is the last full week that I have with Little B. Starting next week, I begin work. Thankfully, Monday will be my regular day off so I don't have to immediately go in. But, Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday I'll be working 7:30-6 and Friday from 7:30-5:30. I'm really bummed that things haven't fallen into place to allow Daddy B to find a job so that I could possibly be at home with Little B. But, we're still holding out hope that it'll be soon. We've switched things up a bit so that he will have an extra full day to dedicate to job searching. And he'll be getting an extra day to work on searching when he's not caring for Little B. Our plan is that I will have him when I'm off Monday, a nanny will come into the home Tuesday/Wednesday/Friday and Daddy B will have him on Thursday. In another 6-7 weeks that will change because we will share the care with a friend of ours. So then I'll have both boys on Monday, the nanny will have them Tuesday/Wednesday, Daddy B will have Little B on Thursday for a half or full day and our friends will have him on Friday. It's a good plan for letting Little B have the most of mommy/daddy or close friends but it's still breaking my heart. I want so much to be at home with Little B and right now that can't happen. Going back to work Tuesday is going to be tough. Much tougher on me than Little B. In fact, I think due to knowing that I have to go back, my patience level with Little B is at an all-time high. I'm savoring every moment! Here's to hoping that Daddy B finds a great job soon that not only he loves but will allow me more time with Little B!
Daddy B has taken extra good care of Little B and I in the past few days. I've lost some of my milk and am having to pump more to get it back up to where it should be. He's been so sweet in caring for Little B more to allow me to pump/rest which is what the doctor prescribed! I love my boys :)
I could tell that Landon was ahead of his age at 10 days and every picture confirms my first observation. Now you have the numbers to prove it.
